On Sunday 13th April a Northern Rail sponsored, FoSCL organised, special charity train (with net proceeds being donated to the Railway Children and a charity of FoSCL's choosing) will run along the DalesRail route from Blackpool to Carlisle. During a 2 hour stop in Carlisle Colin Speakman, founder secretary of the Yorkshire Dales Society and chairman of the Dales Way Association will give a presentation on "The saving of the Settle & Carlisle Line" in the Hallmark Hotel, adjacent to Carlisle Station.
The train will depart Blackpool 09.10, stopping at Preston (09.39), Blackburn (10.04), Clitheroe (10.27), Hellifield (10.52), Settle (11.00), Horton-in-Ribblesdale (11.08), Ribblehead (11.16) and arriving Carlisle at 12.32
The return journey will depart Carlisle 14.30 calling at Ribblehead (15.46), Horton-in-Ribblehead (15.54), Settle (16.02), Hellifield (16.10), Clitheroe (16.32), Blackburn (16.53), Preston (17.18) and arriving in Blackpool at 17.47
This will be a ticket only train costing £20 per person wherever you board. Tickets can be obtained by

For anyone who is unable to join the excursion train but would like to attend Colin Speakman's presentation in Carlisle an entrance charge of £5 will be made. Please book for this in one of the ways described above.
