The popularity of the “Fellsman” trains running every Wednesday through the summer from Lancaster, Preston, Blackburn, Clitheroe & Long Preston continue unabated for its fourth season with the first eight trains all fully booked and over 440 passengers on each, the remaining two trains on 22nd and 29th August only having a handful of standard class seats remaining with Premier and First Class selling out weeks ago. This is despite increased pressure from the economic downturn and other railtour promoters operating their own repeat itinerary steam tours over the Settle & Carlisle route.
Statesman Rail are pleased to announce that the ‘Fellsman’ will return in 2013 with an expanded programme of 12 trains operating every Wednesday from 12th June to 28th August and the train on 7th August will be named “The Fifteen Guinea Fellsman” and operate double headed to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the end of steam on British Railways with, subject to availability the two ‘Jubilee’ combination of 5690 ‘Leander’ & 45699 ‘Galatea’ or 46115 ‘Scots Guardsman’ & 45699 ‘Galatea’.
Bookings for the 2013 programme will open on 1st November and prior to that date anyone interested in travelling on the 7th August double header may lodge their interest, without commitment, by emailing [email protected] or calling 0845 310 2458 and stating the class of travel and number of seats required.
The 83 year old ex-GWR royal Saloon 9004 will again feature along with the optional vintage bus tour and Ullswater cruise. Prices for 2013 are yet to be announced but it is anticipated they will be very competitive with only a slight increase from this year.
