Statesman Rail are pleased to announce that the new series of ITV’s popular series ‘The Dales’ will air in March and in addition to our “Fellsman” steam train being featured on the opening credits of every episode we will have our own feature in episode 2 when the presenter Ade Edmondson rides the footplate of the engine over the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct.
In this episode Ade manages to fulfil a childhood dream with the help of Statesman Rail and West Coast Railway Company as he gets to ride on the footplate of a steam train on the Settle to Carlisle railway line. “I can’t tell you how excited I am, if you’re going on a steam train there’s really only one place to be and that’s on the footplate,” says Ade. His journey takes him over the stunning Ribblehead Viaduct, which is featured in the Harry Potter films, and through a one mile tunnel deep beneath the Yorkshire Dales. “In this series I’ve been lucky enough to see the Dales from many vantage points but this has got to be one of the best, on a steam train on the Ribblehead Viaduct,” says Ade.
Viewers can see Ade Edmondson ride “The Fellsman” on ITV 1 ‘The Dales’ at 20.00 on Monday 5th March.
The popular ‘Fellsman’ starts its 2012 series of trains on Wednesday 6th June and thereafter runs every Wednesday from 4th July to 29th August departing from Lancaster, Preston, Blackburn, Clitheroe and Long Preston (near Settle) and offers a fabulous steam hauled journey over the spectacular Settle to Carlisle railway.
The ‘Fellsman’ is operated in partnership with Northern Rail, Virgin Trains & West Coast Railways.
