Footsteps in Time

The Footsteps in Time team at Hellifield Shed 24H for their AGM

The Footsteps in time team have two new features during the 2025 seasons events.

Limestone Botany when we welcome a Leeds based botanical artist, Selina Thorp,   to accompany us in identifying the wild flowers of ingleborough quarry and Gauber pasture.

The Lost Village of Thorns is now a  haunting place of natural beauty with its derelict stone dwellings surrounded by mature trees. With the rise of the railway and the many enclosure acts, many agricultural workers were forced in to the towns and the drovers 250 year industry collapsed.

We have also added to our exhibits. To accompany the tale of the Ribblehead viaduct ,we now have a series of engineering drawings used by the Viaduct Project Resident Engineer, Tony Freschini, during the 1989-1991 restoration. These will be on display in addition to our growing collection of exhibits during events in the Ribblehead Visitor Centre.
