The 'History' area of the FoSCL website now features four sections, each with a different historical theme:
- History of FoSCL: The origins and development of the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line.
- Building the line: The planning and construction of the Settle-Carlisle Railway.
- Historic operations: Operating and maintaining the Settle-Carlisle Railway prior to the formal reprieve from closure in 1989.
- Historic structures: The railway-related buildings and operational structures within the Settle-Carlisle Railway Conservation Area.
Sections 1, 2 & 3 have been populated initially with existing material from the original 'History' section together with relevant articles extracted from recent issues of the FoSCL journal.
Section 4 has been populated initially with the content of a briefing document created to publicise and explain the Historic Structures Survey project. Sections 3 & 4 will gradually be expanded as part of that project.
