Discover Thorns with the Footsteps in Time team . The first of our new seasons events is on the 23rd April starting from Ribblehead visitor centre at the station.
The 6 mile walk will leave the station yard at approximately 1130. Please read our important information so that you are able to safely join us.
This now abandoned village was in a thriving location and a regular stop for the drovers , who were also skilled veterinarians, as they made their way from north to south with livestock, goods and news.
We will have displays and an introductory talk before the walk which takes us via a pack horse bridge to be guided around the ‘lost’ village. We return over the shanty tramways with a visit to the iconic viaduct in time for trains home.
Our exhibits are displayed between 11.00- 3.15. New this year is a collection of drawings and diagrams from the viaduct restoration work. This should appeal to our railway enthusiasts. The visitor centre and cafe is open 10.15.to 3.15.
We have a free raffle at each event this season for our walkers and visitors. This is in recognition of the line opening to goods 150 years ago.
Something for everyone.
